New Testament passage for Monday, December 24, 2012: Revelation 15:1-8
2 And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God. 3 They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: “Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints! 4 Who shall not fear You, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, For Your judgments have been manifested.” Revelation 15:2-4 (NKJV)
Moses and Israel were in the test of their life. They were out of Egypt, but now trapped at the Red Sea. Behind them the armies of Pharoah were fast approaching will intent to kill. Before them was an impassable body of water. This great deliverance story was about to end in destruction.
Have you ever felt that way? Certainly, God has done awesome things for you in the past. He has been your deliverer. But now the path has led to a "box canyon" with no way out. You feel trapped and it seems Satan has got the upper hand.
It was in this situation that Moses told Israel, "STAND STILL AND SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD!" (Exodus 15) God loves to lead us into places that are impossible by human standards, and there to show His mighty power.
As history proceeds toward its climax, this will be an important pattern. While Satan's forces seem so strong, there will be a people who overcome every attack. They will stand in security while the world falls apart. Scripture says that they will sing the song of Moses.
The parting of the Red Sea is one of the best known miracles of the Old Testament. As Moses simply held up his staff, God came down and made a way where there ad been no way. God's people walked across on dry ground! The miracle that saved them also proved to be the miracle tar destroyed their enemies.
Then, all Israel sang a song. It was a deliverance song - a victory song. God is today giving you a song lie that, too.
The picture of the end-times is not one of fear and defeat. It is one of singing and victory. We are standing on holy ground.
