“Resources for the Journey”
46 And they came to
Jericho. And as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd,
Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. 47 And
when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say,
“Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 And
many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son
of David, have mercy on me!” 49 And Jesus
stopped and said, “Call him.”
And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart. Get up; he is
calling you.” 50 And throwing off his
cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus.
51 And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to
do for you?”
And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.” 52 And
Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you
well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and
followed him on the way. Mark 10:51-52 (ESV)
Three Words for the New Year
1.
RELATIONSHIP
2.
RESOURCES
3.
RESTORATION
Making request, if by any means now
at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you. Romans 1:10 (KJV)
“Here are kingdom revelations,
words to live by, and words of wisdom given to empower you to reign in life,”
Written as proverbs by Israel’s King Solomon, David’s son. Proverbs 1:1 (Passion Translation)
Reign
in life does not mean you are arrogant or into a control mentality. Rather, everything that happens to you in
life is inferior to what’s happening inside you. The dimension of God’s grace and power in you
is greater than that which confronts you outside you.
Little children, you are from God
and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the
world. I John 4:4 (ESV)
Ambition: to have everyone so manage and handle their
finances that they become a source of liberation rather than bondage – they
become a means of blessing rather than burden.
That means having
your debt under control. That means
being debt free. That means everyone
have their lifestyle in sync with their income.
That means excelling in fruitfulness to the point that you are
productive.
Here’s the simple
outline:
1.
Everyone
employed – receiving the income they need for the next steps of their life –
for advance
2.
Out of
debt – manifest wisdom
3.
Break
the cycle of impoverishment
From TAKER to GIVER.
Let him who stole steal no longer,
but rather let him labor, working with his
hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. Ephesians 4:28 (NKJV)
5 Now
therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your
ways! 6 “You have sown
much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not
filled with drink;
You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.” 7 Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways! Haggai 1:5-7 (NKJV)
You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.” 7 Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways! Haggai 1:5-7 (NKJV)
Not what is called
the LOTTERY MENTALITY. Do stupid things hoping for a great
breakthrough.
Instead learning
the ways of wisdom.
3 By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is
established; 4 through knowledge its
rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. Proverbs 24:3-4 (NIV)
House. Bayith in OT. Oikos in NT.
House of Israel – nation
House of David – family, legacy
Calling, ministry, occupation, business, community,
city, nation
3 Wise people are builders – they build
families, businesses, communities, and through intelligence and insight, their
enterprises are established and endure. 4
Because of their skilled leadership, the hearts of people are filled with the
treasures of wisdom and the pleasures of spiritual wealth. Proverbs 24:3-4 (Passion Translation)
Deuteronomy
8
“The whole commandment that I command you today you
shall be careful to do, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess
the land that the Lord swore to give to your fathers. Deuteronomy 8:1 (ESV)
2 And you shall remember the whole way
that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the
wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your
heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. 3 And he humbled
you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did
your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread
alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. 4 Your clothing did not
wear out on you and your foot did not swell these forty years. 5 Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines
his son, the Lord your God disciplines you. Deuteronomy 8:2-5 (ESV)
6 So you shall keep the commandments of
the Lord your God by walking in his ways and by fearing him. 7 For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of
water, of fountains and springs, flowing out in the valleys and hills, 8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees
and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey, 9 a
land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack
nothing, a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you can dig
copper. 10 And you shall eat and be
full, and you shall bless the Lord your God
for the good land he has given you. Deuteronomy 8:6-10 (ESV)
You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you
power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your
fathers, as it is this day. Deuteronomy 8:18 (ESV)
God wants to give us the ability to overcome. This is not simply some supernatural
intervention although that’s wonderful when it happens. It is also to ability in God to bring into
visible manifestation that which you see and know to be God’s will for you.
So what does God want for each of us?
1. To
be out of debt
2. To
have the job God wants for you
3. To
have your needs met.
4. To
have the ability to meet the needs of others
Derek Prince:
Essentially, abundance means
you have all you need
plus something to spare to give
to others. It is when
there is no need in your life and
you have more than
you need to give to others. Abundance
suggests always
that you are lifted above the
level of your own needs
and are thus able to reach out to the needs of
others.
