Here are the notes from today's message at New Life Community Church.  Second message is the series:  HOLY PRESENCE.  Title:  "Supernatural Church"
If you would like to listen to this message, you may do so by going to our website at www.newlifesite.com.  God bless!

Holy Presence, Part 2
 “Supernatural Church”

Begin with story about Ally
Point:  Extreme attachment
“My Mommy be back in 5 minutes”
“I was in my Mommy’s tummy”

With respect to the supernatural church, while this is a passing phase in the life of a child, it should be the growing reality for God’s people.
Ally has SEPARATION ANXIETY
Principle:         Church attached to Jesus by the ministry of the Holy Spirit
                        Anticipation of His return
                        Knowledge of origins

15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.  18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.  John 14:15-18 (ESV)
Orphan – Gk. Orphanos.  Fatherless, desolate, without comfort, without care.
Abandonment issues
Jesus dealt with our need to be with Him.  He deals with this need by means of the Person and Work of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus made it very clear that the continuation of His ministry on the earth was to take place through His Spirit-empowered followers.

Francis Chan:  “The church becomes irrelevant when it becomes purely a human creation.  We are not all we were made to be when everything in our lives and churches can be explained apart from the work and presence of the Holy Spirit.”  P. 18.

Francis Chan:  “The ‘entertainment’ model of church was largely adopted in the 1980’s and 90’s, and while it alleviated some of our boredom for a couple of hours a week, it filled our churches with self-focused consumers rather than self-sacrificing servants attuned to the Holy Spirit.”  P. 15-16.

Three Things are Basic:
We are to be SPIRIT-BORN.
We are to be SPIRIT-EMPOWERED.          Spirit-filled.
We are to be SPIRIT-SHAPED.        Spirit-formed.

37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”  38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”  Acts 2:37-39 (NIV)

40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.  Acts 2:40-41 (NIV)

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common.  Acts 2:42-44 (NIV)

18 And I tell you, you are Peter [Greek, Petros—a large piece of rock], and on this rock [Greek, petra—a huge rock like Gibraltar] I will build My church, and the gates of Hades (the powers of the infernal region) shall not overpower it [or be strong to its detriment or hold out against it].  19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven.  Matthew 16:18-19 (Amplified)
The New Century Version states this in a more synchronized way – heaven and earth get lined up and are in sync through the ministry of the church:
the things you don’t allow on earth will be the things that God does not allow, and the things you allow on earth will be the things that God allows.”

to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, Ephesians 3:10 (NKJV)

A TRUTH Encounter

And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God. But when some were hardened and did not believe, but spoke evil of the Way before the multitude, he departed from them and withdrew the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus. 10 And this continued for two years, so that all who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.  Acts 19:8-10 (NKJV)

A POWER Encounter

Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul,  Acts 19:11 (NKJV)

I have fought with beasts at Ephesus,  I Co. 15:32 (NKJV)

Be careful when there is no spiritual warfare around what you are doing.  It means there is no power encounter, which means you may not be operating as the supernatural church.

A LIFE Encounter

14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, 15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast to the word of life …  Philippians 2:14-16 (ESV)
There should be a distinguishable difference in terms of quality of life for people who walk in the Kingdom of God.
This is going to become even more pronounced in days to come.  The Homosexuality issue will continue to be significant.  All matters of sexuality are is contention in our days.
The devil would like to reduce the church to a sequestered little group of do-gooders who are holier-than-thou and major on the DO NOT’s far more than the DO’s.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control.  Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)

A PERSONAL Encounter

1 And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”  So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.”  Acts 19:1-2 (NKJV)

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. Now the men were about twelve in all.  Acts 19:5-7 (NKJV)
