"One Year Bible" New Testament Passage
Romans 12:1-21
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
There is a very fundamental sense in which we DO NOT FIT in this world. We are citizens of the age to come. We have been translated out of the kingdom of darkness and into the Kingdom of God's Son. We are to live our lives IN this world (fully engaged and active) while not being OF this world (see John 17).
How can we do this? The Bible says that a TRANSFORMATION must take place. While continuing decay and destruction takes place in all things worldly, there can be a regeneration, a renewal simultaneously taking place in us by God's redemptive activity.
Our spirits are alive in Christ. That happened at new birth. Now our minds are invited to join in this unstoppable "re-making" of our entire being. King Jesus will ultimately prevail. All our attitudes, all our ideas, all our opinions will ultimately bow before Him. We will ultimately declare, "Let God be true, and every man a liar."
His truth has the power to transform us. We are invited today to allow that work in our minds, and as a result in our actions. This will demonstrate God's good plan. "He does all things well."
