A Vision in the Night

"One Year Bible" New Testament Passage
Acts 15:36-16:15

And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” Acts 16:9(NKJV)

We all want life to be simple and uncomplicated. It is wonderful when our lives develop along clear and predictable lines. Unfortunately that is rarely the case.

There is a mistaken notion that when Jesus comes into our lives He will smooth out the rough places and lead us into clear sailing. No doubt, He DOES bring rest to our troubled hearts and blessed forgiveness for our sins. But, He does not always lead us out of testing or trial. In fact, following Jesus often leads us directly INTO the battles that define our victories.

As Paul launched into one of the greatest apostolic excursions of history, we was immediately met with ..... CONFUSION! Every turn he made seemed to be the wrong direction. The pressure built until he had a vision in the night. Thus, the missionary expansion of Christianity was changed, and for the first time, the gospel entered Europe.

God wants to speak to you. He wants to guide you. He wants to give you MAJOR breakthroughs. The context for this is often a season of great confusion and contradiction. Then... God will give you "a vision in the night."

So wait upon the Lord. Listen to His direction. If it seems that your path is cloudy, do not despair or give up. The dawn of new direction - new vision - new favor is upon you. He will lead you to a new era. His Word over your life will not fail. Remember, His guidance is first off HIS guidance. It is only secondarily yours. He holds it and will keep you.
