Romans 15:1-22
Now I myself am confident concerning you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another. Romans 15:14 (NKJV)
God has called each of us to live beyond ourselves. You are a part of a great tapestry of people redeemed and brought into the Kingdom of God. We are a fabric of grace.
As such, we are each called to care for one another. Paul outlines for us three steps in "soul-care". They are: GOODNESS, KNOWLEDGE, and ADMONITION.
These three go together and should be inseparable. If we admonish without goodness, we will be harsh and ineffective. If we admonish without knowledge, we will likely miss the mark and perhaps cause greater harm. These three go together.
If our goodness remains silent, it will ultimately cease to be goodness. Knowledge that refuses to be shared will soon be reduced to mere theory. It will no longer be practical. That knowledge will be useless.
There are greater abilities that God wants to give us. So, may our GOODNESS grow in godliness, in Christ-likeness, in the mighty, enduring love of God. May our KNOWLEDGE be broad and deep, balanced and profound. May we hunger for the answers and insights that come from God. And, may we not back away from the great need to help one another by ADMONISHING - instructing, correcting, and aiding. With great prayer and humility, may we rise to God's expectations of how we can be the family of God.
