“Our Supernatural Mandate”
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: I Corinthians 12:1 (NKJV)
Responses people can have to the topic of the spiritual realm.
1. INDIFFERENCE
2. FEAR or DISTRUST
3. CURIOSITY
4. HUNGER
1. Indifference – too busy a life and things of the Spirit seem irrelevant. “The supernatural really doesn’t matter because things never change any way.”
2. Fear – when God moves in, He starts changing things. “What will He do with me?”
DOCTRINE OF CESSATIONISM. Belief that the things written in the Bible are reserved only for the age of the apostles, and have now ceased.
Distrust – times when we trusted God and it didn’t turn out like we thought.
Example: Prayer for my cousin who had diabetes
3. Curiosity – negative. Dabbling in the supernatural as a matter of curiosity. Rise of interest in the paranormal.
4. Hunger – this is the right response.
Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts. I Corinthians 14:1 (NKJV)
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6 (NKJV)
