The Fight for Your Future

"One Year Bible" Old Testament History Passage
Deuteronomy 2:1-3:29

"You must not fear them, for the Lord your God Himself fights for you."  Dt. 3:22 (NKJV)

Our God is a warrior.  Exodus 15:3 says, "The Lord is a warrior. The Lord is His Name."  In many modern minds, a war-like attitude is frowned upon.  Being "hawkish" is sometimes not even consider "Christian."  We major on the verses that call us to be peace-makers, and to flee from undo controversy.

There is no doubt that peace and tranquility are part of the Christian domain.  However, there is also a forgotten part.  We are called to be warriors.  Our God is a warrior and He engenders in us an ability to fight the good fight.

THERE IS NO REAL PROGRESS IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE WITHOUT A FIGHT.  Our three adversaries we never let up this side of heaven.  The WORLD, the FLESH, and the DEVIL surround us with one major objective: STOP THIS BELIEVER!

God is with us in the battle.  He has equipped us weapons for victory.  He has promised us a sure final outcome.  This is the calling and destiny of every believer.  Let's fight the good fight.

  1. At our Lock-In I challenged our students through a message about being "Ammunition" for God. In essence, God has the weapons! The Church needs to become the ammunition! Bullets of light that pierce the darkness. Bullets of hope that pierce the hopelessness. Bullets of love that pierce the apathy! And you don't fight a war with one bullet! We aren't in it to win the battle, we are in it to win the war! As the Church we've got to come together as warriors of God! I brought forth the question, "How often do we as the Church cry about how the Devil is attacking us? Well how often does the Devil cry about the Church attacking HIM!?"
