Your View of Yourself

"One Year Bible" Old Testament History Passage Numbers 11:24-13:33

"...and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight."  Numbers 13:33 (NKJV)

The twelve spies were sent out by Moses to look a the land of Canaan and bring back a report.  The plan and promise of God had guided them to this point saying, "I will give you a land flowing with milk and honey" (Exodus 3:8,17).  These twelve were the advance guard to spy out and prepare for the next steps in land-taking.

In fact, the spies were sent to look at the land and bring back a report of what they saw.  Instead, they went out and took a look at THEMSELVES and brought back a report about THEMSELVES.  Ten of them looked at the land through the eyes of their own capabilities.  The Bible says that ten of them said that "they were like grasshoppers IN THEIR OWN EYES."  As a result, they knew that their enemies would not fear them in the least.  Two of them, howver, looked through the eyes of God's promise and God's capabilities.

This is an important lesson.  YOUR VIEW OF YOURSELF DETERMINES YOUR FUTURE.  God will not take you someplace that you don't already see in your spirit.  As we move through life, we have a tendency to look at everything as a challenge or an obstacle.  We measure it in terms of our capabilities.  Too often we are challenged beyond measure.  The obstacle does not tell you anything about ITSELF.  It tells you something about YOURSELF.

We are called to live a SUPERNATURAL life.  This is a life built and empowered by God's ability, not ours.  The FIRST STEP is not looking your ability but rather at God's ability.  Your future is as bright as the Word of God!
