Apostolic Ministry in Our Day

"One Year Bible" New Testament Passage (for Wed., Sept. 12)
II Corinthians 12:11-21

The signs of a true apostle were performed among you with all perseverance, by signs and wonders and miracles. II Corinthians 12:12 (NASB)

Much is being said these days about apostolic ministry.  There is much that needs to be said.

While there will no longer be Apostles (capital "A") in the sense of the initial twelve that Jesus called, yet there are apostles (lower case "a") today in the ministry of church-planting and being sent out by the Holy Spirit to break new ground for the Kingdom.

This is exciting. The Kingdom of God is going forward. The kingdom of darkness is being pushed back. We need powerful apostolic vision and power in our day. This is not flashy or weird. It is ground zero spiritual advance.

There are two major dimensions in which such advance takes place: 1) supernatural intervention by God, and 2) great perseverance as we stand in faith.

I delight to see God answer our prayers. I want to see more and more divine intervention. Paul said that such great events are accompanied by "all

perseverance" in himself and those with him. We will not give up or back off. We will continue to believe God and His truth. Our God will confirm His word by doing mighty works in our day. All glory to Him in this awesome endeavour!
