The Power of Generosity

"One Year Bible" New Testament Passage (for Fri., Sept. 7, 2012)
II Corinthians 9:1-15

But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. II Corinthians 9:6-8 (NKJV)

Generosity is a characteristic of the Kingdom of God. There is an atmosphere of generosity wherein the things of the Spirit flourish. YOU WERE CREATED BE A CHANNEL OF DIVINE GENEROSITY. This is the fertile ground for EXPONENTIAL GROWTH in the things of God.

Scripture states that man was created "in the image of God" (Gen. 1:26-28). That means we are an expression of His character. If there is an area in which the fall of man is most evident, it is in our selfishness. We are most like God, when we GIVE - no holds barred.

I believe that generosity is the celebration of the character of God. If we dive into the river of grace, we find ourselves meeting SOMEONE ELSE'S need. This is a contagious disease. We infect others with a serving, selfless spirit. The end result is abundance. That is the atmosphere of divine favor. It is the atmosphere of heaven.
