Growing in Discernment

"One Year Bible" New Testament Passage (for Sun., Sept. 9, 2012)
II Corinthians 11:1-15

14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.  II Corinthians 11:14-15 (NKJV)

There is a great need in our day for godly DISCERNMENT. So many voices are speaking. So many different teachings are being championed. So many seemingly good things are being promoted.

How can we know what is truly valid, and what is false?  I believe it vitally important to be tied into solid relationships in the Body of Christ. We need to know the track record of those from whom we receive ministry.

Today it is possible to receive ministry via the media from individuals we will never see in person. It is possible to draw deeply from ministries that we have almost no first-hand knowledge. It seems that their words are good, but it is hard to judge their personal character.

Paul warns us that even Satan can clothe himself in the trappings of "good ministry". This does not mean that we should be cynical or suspicious. It means we should grow in godly DISCERNMENT.

Keep your eyes on Jesus. Stay in solid fellowship. Test everything Blythe Scripture. God promises that He will guide you and keep you as you grow in love and discernment.
