Visitation or Residence

"One Year Bible" New Testament Passage (for Mon., Sept. 3)
II Corinthians 6:14-7:7

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. II Corinthians 7:1 (NKJV)

All of us have had friends come to visit with us for a short period of time. Most visits are for only an hour or two, and then we return to our regular life. Perhaps your friend may stay the night and stretch the visit to a day or two.

What if your friend stayed a month, or a year - what it wasn't a visit, but he moved in to stay? If it's a short visit, nothing really changes in your home. But, if he stays, many changes start taking place.

That's what God does with us. If He just visits, we can wait until He leaves and then return to our old ways. But, if He stays, WE'VE GOT TO CHANGE.

We have the promise of PERMANENT RESIDENCE from the Lord. He will come live in you!  Therefore, we've got to MAKE ROOM FOR HIM. Get ready to receive the Lord of heaven and earth.

True holiness is that way. It is not a matter of rule-keeping. It is a matter of receiving the Lord of holiness into to living room of your heart.
