A God's Eye View of Ministry

"One Year Bible" New Testament Passage
I Corinthians 3:5-23

So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. I Corinthians 3:7-8 (NKJV)

We need to have a GOD'S EYE VIEW OF MINISTRY. Most folks see everything from a very self-centered perspective. This is only natural. We want our own ministry to flourish and to grow. We love the admiration we receive when WE GET THE CREDIT.

But, one of the most important truths we can learn is that no ministry is a solo act. The only solo act is Jesus. We are all a part of a great coalition, a great symphony, a magnificent interconnection of divine life.

We may often feel a great responsibility to follow through on the lives of those we touch. We struggle to maintain contact and continuity so these newborn babes do not fall through the cracks. This is, of course, a good thing. We must do all that we can to care for these who are growing in Christ.

But, we must remember the truth that Paul shares with us. JESUS IS CONSTANTLY BRINGING NEW MINISTRY TO THOSE HE LOVES. We are each called to our part. God will always bring new and good voices to carry His people higher.

In the final analysis, I will not be judged for doing EVERYTHING. I will be judged by God for doing that which HE GAVE ME DO. It is God, and God alone, who gives be increase, and God alone who gets the glory. We must see things from GOD'S PERSPECTIVE.
