Walk in the Grace Given You

"One Year Bible" New Testament Passage (for Sat., Aug. 11)

I Corinthians 7:1-24

But as God has distributed to each one, as the Lord has called each one, so let him walk. And so I ordain in all the churches.  I Corinthians 7:17 (NKJV)

You have a unique place in God's plan. NO ONE has your signature - your unique package of attributes. Therein is the source of our greatest defeats and our greatest victories in life.

You might wonder why I speak of defeats when we are looking at positive graces and abilities. Most of the time we focus only on "using our gifts" as the key to success.  But, I believe we have an equally significant negative thrust that we must also address.

There are many things you are gifted (graced) to do. You find these to flow relatively easily from your life. But, there are also many things that it seems you falter in performing. They are not part of your gift-mix.

Unfortunately, because of pride, we bow up at these failures and exert all our efforts toward conquering these strongholds. As a result, these "gaps in our armor" can produce some of the greatest  defeats of life.  Instead of battling in areas that we lack grace, we should instead seek help from those gifted in that area.

That's how the Body of Christ works. So, as each has been given (distributed) a gift or ability, let him walk in that grace. Together we will be a display before the world of the wisdom of God.
