Feasting on the Lord

"One Year Bible" New Testament Passage
1 Corinthians 5:1-13

Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. I Corinthians 5:8 (NKJV)

Feasting is a major part of our relationship with God. In the Old Testament, there were seven literal feasts that Israel observed as part of their covenant relationship with God. These Old Testament feasts foreshadow the fantastic feast we are to continually enjoy as New Testament believers.
So here is the question for today: ARE YOU FEASTING ON THE LORD?  We are invited to eat and drink to the full. He spreads a bountiful table of grace, wisdom, peace, joy ... !  This is the table of the Lord's provision for your life.

Throughout the Scripture, God uses the image of eating and drinking in reference to our relationship to Him. He goes into detail telling us how He wants this table to be enjoyed.

First, NO STALE BREAD at this table. Don't use yesterday's left-overs. Israel got new manna EVERY MORNING. While yesterday was wonderful and we thank God for what He has done, yet He will give us fresh daily bread.

Second, the INGREDIENTS are important. No malice or spite or grumbling at this table. God uses only the best to feed His people.

Lastly, this meal is HEART-FELT. It is sincere. It is genuine. No ulterior motives cloud this table. Jesus wants to enjoy a meal with you because He simply enjoys your company.

So, let us keep the feast. Once again I ask: are you feasting on the Lord today?
