Aware of the Supernatural

"One Year Bible" New Testament Passage (for Sun., Aug. 19)
I Corinthians 12:1-26

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant. ICorinthians 12:1 (NKJV)

We serve a supernatural God. As Christians, we believe that there is another realm of existence beyond this physical world that we touch, taste, see, and feel. That realm is the realm in which God operates and does His primary work. Everything that shows up in this physical world is but a reflection of spiritual reality.

In this first vesrse of I Corinthians 12, Paul says that he does not want us to be ignorant concerning spiritual matters. In the original Greek, the word "gifts" does not appear but rather is added by the translators as a gloss. In the original script, the word could be better translated "spiritual things" or "the spiritual realm."

Many people are afraid of the supernatural. It might seem weird to them or strange. But we need to become familiar with the way God operates in terms of His spiritual presence and blessings.

This is an area in which we all need to grow. So, pray today that the Lord open your eyes to see Him operating all around you. Pray that the Lord fill you with His Spirit so that you can WALK IN THE SPIRIT. This is truly exciting territory. It is part of your inheritance in Christ.
